About The Position

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of machinery and equipment used for the fabrication of structural steel and tank products. This role involves operating CNC equipment, performing routine maintenance, and utilizing applicable tools and equipment. The Machine Operator 2 will also train and mentor junior employees and ensure adherence to safety and housekeeping standards.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
  • Programming CNC equipment
  • Operating CNC equipment
  • Working knowledge of basic lifting and rigging techniques.
  • Able to identify needed material.
  • Able to read shop drawings.
  • Plan and organize work to meet deadlines.
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to read a tape measure (imperial and metric).
  • Effectively operate common layout tools.
  • Ability to work with others.
  • Ability to work safely and accurately.
  • Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Ability to be truthful and be seen as credible in the workplace.
  • Ability to make decisions or take actions to solve a problem or reach a goal.
  • Dependable and trustworthy.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • One to two years of machine operation experience.
  • Must have fulfilled the requirements of the Machine Operator I position or shown that equivalent experience and knowledge has been gained by other means (previous employment, trade schools) to meet those requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties in a safe manner and in compliance with the established JSA.
  • Competently operate a majority of equipment in an operational area, performing with accuracy, consistency, and with minimal supervision and rework.
  • Lead and direct groups of employees to successful task completion.
  • Perform effectively as a trainer and mentor to junior employees.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment.
  • Utilize applicable tools and equipment relevant to operating the machine.
  • Practice and promote Safety and Housekeeping.
  • Prompt and dependable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
