About The Position

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of machinery and equipment used for the fabrication of structural steel and tank products. This role involves embracing and demonstrating the qualities of the TrueNorth Steel Game Changer definition, performing all duties safely and in compliance with established JSA. The operator will competently operate a majority of equipment in an operational area with accuracy, consistency, and minimal supervision. Additionally, the role includes leading and directing groups of employees, training and mentoring junior employees, performing routine maintenance, utilizing applicable tools and equipment, practicing safety and housekeeping, and maintaining prompt and dependable attendance. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
Programming CNC equipment
Operating CNC equipment
Working knowledge of basic lifting and rigging techniques.
Able to identify needed material
Able to read shop drawings
Plan and organize work to meet deadlines.
Understand and follow oral and written directions.
Ability to read a tape measure (imperial and metric).
Effectively operate common layout tools.
Ability to work with others.
Ability to work safely and accurately.
Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.
Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
Ability to be truthful and be seen as credible in the workplace.
Ability to make decisions or take actions to solve a problem or reach a goal.
Dependable and trustworthy
High School diploma or GED.
One to two years of machine operation experience.
The Machine Operator 2 must have fulfilled the requirements of the Machine Operator I position or shown that equivalent experience and knowledge has been gained by other means (previous employment, trade schools) to meet those requirements.

Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment.
Utilize applicable tools and equipment relevant to operating the machine.
Practice and promote Safety and Housekeeping.
Prompt and dependable attendance.
