About The Position

The Machine Operator 1/SMT Set-up 1 is responsible for setting up materials for SMT machines, following all process documentation, and diagnosing defects or problems. This role involves maintaining solder paste stencils, replenishing and controlling SMT components, and accurately filling out process documentation. The operator must be able to follow process/program documentation developed by Engineering, verify correct programs and revisions, and monitor floor stock inventory like solder paste, including expiration dates. Additionally, the role includes performing preventative maintenance on equipment, cleaning, and identifying when further maintenance is needed. Collaboration with engineers and technicians for NPI product setup, performing X-Ray inspection of returned materials, and counting/stocking new parts are also key duties. The position may also involve training other employees and assisting with new employee orientation.

Requirements

  • Follows oral and written instructions, and must be fluent at reading blueprints.
  • Will be responsible for the quality or work and meeting daily quantity standards.
  • Keep facilities, materials and work area clean, organized and free of FOD, exercising care in their use.
  • Use safety practices and takes prompt action to correct problems.
  • Related experience in set-up, operation and troubleshooting of surface mount technology and microscope soldering.
  • Will be required to pass J-STD & IPC-610 Certification to be qualified to perform the job duties of a Surface Mount Machine Material Setup.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in programming of SMT equipment is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains solder paste stencils.
  • Replenishes and controls SMT components in a warehouse setting.
  • Fills in process documentation to be complete and accurate.
  • Able to follow process/program documentation developed by Engineering.
  • Verify correct programs and revisions are called out on routers and correct machines are setup.
  • Responsible for the monitoring of floor stock inventory such as solder paste and monitoring expiration dates and informing Supervisor or Lead when low or expired.
  • Following preventative maintenance schedules on equipment will clean and perform PMs.
  • Responsible for identifying when further maintenance is needed.
  • Work with engineers and technicians to set up NPI products for their assigned machines.
  • Perform X-Ray inspection of returned materials.
  • Count and stock new parts from stockroom
  • Load parts on feeders and onto carts
  • Load parts on feeders and onto magazines
  • Pull parts from smart shelves using router
  • May be required to train other employees and assist in orientation of new employees.
  • Assists co-workers when necessary to meet work unit goals.
  • Actively seeks continuous process improvement.
