Machine/Set-Up Operator
About The Position
Sets up and operates single or multi die double stroke (SDDS) cold header and forge pointer to produce quality automotive fasteners from cold metal rod or wire. This role involves assisting and observing designated Setup Operators in the operation and setup of machinery, selecting, installing, and aligning dies, cutting tools, guides, and stops to set up the machine, and setting controls to synchronize machine actions for various operations on a work piece in a specified sequence. The operator will position coils of metal wire or rod on the feed spindle and thread it through straightening rolls into the feed mechanism. Adjustments to die settings and controls are made as required to produce product within specified tolerances and meeting quality standards. The operator starts the machine to begin production and observes machine operations for evidence of malfunction and products for defects. Regular maintenance, oiling, and cleaning of machines are required, along with draining and cleaning oil trays, dumping scrap, and sweeping the floor to maintain housekeeping. The role also ensures all quality and safety documentation is completed with oversight.
Requirements
- 2+ years related head setup operator and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals written in English.
- Ability to complete routine production and quality reports.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities

- Ensures all quality and safety documentation is completed with oversight.
