This position is responsible for performing production operations, monitoring machine performance, completing minor quality control checks, and identifying all quality issues and quality codes. The role also involves providing training to new Packers, assisting with paperwork, and operating and keeping up with faster lines in speed and complexity. The Machine Operator is capable of starting up each inline machine, operates lines with minimal assistance or issue, and is well-versed in a minimum of 50% of the production lines. Diligently completing and maintaining all necessary paperwork without assistance or error for inventory, quality control, record keeping, roll stock and sheet tickets is crucial. The operator must understand the Bill of Materials (BOM) and verify materials against it, ensure correct signage for scrap material, and remove/tag rejected rolls. Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) authorization and performance according to safety guidelines is required. Basic machine set up activities and roll changes are part of the role, as is using basic troubleshooting skills to identify and diagnose forming, trimming, and punching problems. Assisting in other mechanical maintenance, making basic adjustments to temperature and/or speed, eliminating downtime, and promoting good housekeeping practices are also key responsibilities. Identifying and reporting unsafe work conditions, behaviors, or incidents, and following all safety procedures are mandatory. Other duties as assigned by the lead, supervisor, or manager may also be required.
