This position is responsible for performing production operations, monitoring machine performance, completing minor quality control checks, and identifying all quality issues and quality codes. The role involves providing training to new Packers and assisting with paperwork. The Machine Operator must be able to operate and keep up with faster lines in speed and complexity, capable of starting up each inline machine, and operate lines with minimal assistance or issue. They must be well-versed in a minimum of 50% of the production lines. Diligently completing and maintaining all necessary paperwork without assistance or error for inventory, quality control, record keeping, roll stock and sheet tickets is crucial. Understanding the Bill of Materials (BOM) and verifying materials against it, ensuring correct signage for scrap material, and removing/tagging rejected rolls are key responsibilities. The role also includes confirming correct material usage and sending scrap to the correct grinder. Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) authorization and performance according to safety guidelines are required. Basic machine setup activities, roll changes, and using basic troubleshooting skills to identify and diagnose forming, trimming, and punching problems are part of the job. This includes adjusting heats and recognizing different forming conditions. Assisting in other mechanical maintenance, making basic adjustments to temperature and/or speed, and eliminating downtime to keep machines running efficiently are also expected. Promoting good housekeeping practices, identifying and reporting unsafe work conditions, and adhering to all safety procedures are essential. Other duties may be assigned by the lead, supervisor, or manager.
