About The Position

This position involves routine maintenance and repair of facility and grounds, as well as a variety of machinery, tools, and equipment used in the facility. The role requires a strong attention to detail, the ability to work autonomously for extended periods, a high sense of urgency, and a focus on safety.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible mechanic experience.
  • Experience/knowledge applicable to fixturing/tooling applications.
  • Basic computer proficiency and functional knowledge with applications and activities.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Basic math and reading comprehension.
  • Ability to read and write the English language.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write appropriate correspondences.
  • Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and small group situation to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Proficient with MS Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Apprenticeship graduate or technical degree helpful.
  • Aerospace experience preferred.
  • Aerospace industry experience is a plus.
  • Experience with hard metals such as Inconel and titanium is a plus.
  • Working familiarity with shop planning/tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
  • Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Assemble, install and/or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  • Record maintenance and repair work performed and the costs of the work.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Handling and Moving Objects — Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
  • Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates — Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Other duties as assigned.
