About The Position

Machine Maintenance Lead on the Facilities team at Castelion is responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and up time of critical manufacturing and facility equipment. In this role, you will lead hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts across CNC machines and facility systems to support uninterrupted production and rapid iteration. This position offers the opportunity to work on advanced manufacturing equipment in a fast-paced, high-impact environment, making a direct contribution to Castelion's mission of rapidly developing and delivering next-generation defense capabilities.

Requirements

  • Read and interpret schematics, electrical diagrams, machine manuals, and technical drawings.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting CNC machines and/or manufacturing equipment.
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced startup and R&D/production environment with shifting priorities.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government–issued security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with Doosan, SMX, TRAK machines, and manual lathe equipment strongly preferred.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or regulated manufacturing environments is a plus.
  • Familiarity with safety standards, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and general OSHA practices.
  • Experience supporting high-mix, low-volume production or R&D environments with frequent changeovers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on CNC machines (Doosan, SMX, TRAK), manual lathes, and general machine shop equipment.
  • Maintain and repair facility machinery, forklifts, and building systems, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across CNC controls, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and PLCs.
  • Support installation, commissioning, relocation, and upgrades of new and existing equipment.
  • Partner with machinists, engineers, and production teams to quickly diagnose and resolve equipment issues in a high-mix, low-volume R&D/production environment.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, downtime tracking, and parts usage in internal systems.
  • Manage inventory of critical spare parts, tooling components, and maintenance supplies.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement efforts to increase uptime, reduce recurring failures, and optimize maintenance processes.
