About The Position

Outshift, Cisco’s incubation engine, is building the Internet of Cognition: a shared semantic layer that enables agents and humans to reason together. The team previously built AGNTCY, the open-source “Internet of Agents,” now stewarded by the Linux Foundation, and helped establish the Agentic AI Foundation alongside Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI. The team values hands-on implementation, collaboration, and code-focused work. This is a senior individual-contributor role, not a management position. The engineer will help turn concepts such as shared context, shared intent, and coordinated reasoning across distributed agents into scalable, production-grade systems. The role involves driving technical decisions, building hands-on solutions, and supporting other engineers through technical leadership, mentorship, and strong engineering practices.

  • 8+ years of experience building and owning production software and machine learning systems from development through deployment and ongoing support.
  • Experience developing in Python across the full technology stack, from high-level agent logic to underlying systems and infrastructure.
  • Experience with large language models (LLMs) and agentic frameworks such as LangChain/LangGraph, AutoGen, or similar.
  • Experience working in open-source codebases, contributing code, and participating in peer code reviews to maintain code quality and engineering standards.
