About The Position

The Machine Attendant is responsible for setting up and tearing down all equipment required to run a given product. This role requires understanding and training on all safety-related responsibilities, including proper use of lockout/tagout programs and pinch points. The position involves reading product specification sheets for proper packaging and label formatting, communicating daily issues with management and other departments, and maintaining proper operating speeds. The Machine Attendant is also responsible for troubleshooting minor equipment problems and performing all product packaging duties. This role involves repetitive motion, standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Team members must be willing to work in extreme temperatures ranging from 39F to 90F for up to 8-10 hours a day and are responsible for routinely cleaning their area before breaks. A key responsibility is reporting any deficiencies or practices that could compromise food safety.

Requirements

  • Must have packaging experience at Tyson.
  • Must have basic computer skills to load label formats.
  • Applicants must be willing to work overtime and weekends when required.
  • Must be under 4 points at the time of application.
  • No written warnings in the past six (6) months.
  • No suspensions on record for the last 12 months.
  • Must have 6 months of work history with the same employer within the last 24 months.
  • Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson Foods will have a minimum rehire waiting period of 180 days and are limited to 3 times of employment.
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Setting up and tearing down all equipment required to run a given product.
  • Understanding and being trained on all safety-related responsibilities including proper use of lockout/tagout program, pinch points, proper ergonomics, etc.
  • Reading product specification sheets to ensure proper packaging usage, label formatting, etc.
  • Communicating daily issues and needs with management, maintenance, packaging leads, warehouse and label maker.
  • Maintaining proper operating speeds.
  • Troubleshooting minor equipment problems.
  • Notifying maintenance and supervision if assistance is needed with troubleshooting minor or complex equipment problems.
  • Performing all product packaging duties.
  • Performing repetitive motion on a consistent and steady basis.
  • Standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. when required.
  • Working in extreme temperatures ranging from 39F to 90F for up to 8-10 hours a day.
  • Cleaning area routinely before leaving for breaks.
  • Reporting all possible deficiencies or practices that could compromise food safety.
