Requirements

  • At least two years of experience as medical assistant in a clinic or physician’s office with the ability to perform venipunctures.
  • At least 12 months of Company employment as a Medical Assistant.
  • Completion of training and testing by a Company Nurse to verify the MA is competent to access ports.
  • Head Nurse must certify the MA’s competence once a year.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Valid Driver’s license in state of residency for travel to clinics.
  • BLS required upon hire or must be obtained within 30 days of employment (FCS will provide BLS course within first 30 days).

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians with medical procedures in office.
  • Responsible for phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, equipment maintenance and all other duties of Medical Assistant.
  • At level II the Medical Assistant will be responsible for accessing Groshong and Mediports after being certified by a RN.
  • Medical Assistant II will need to be recertified annually for this higher position.
