About The Position

This role involves working closely with an experienced Welder and Spot Welder to perform layout, set-up, and welding on various component parts and assemblies. The trainee will learn to fabricate, repair, or rework using different welding processes, including manual arc (GTAW, TIG) and semi-automated weld processes (GTAW, LW, EBW). This includes using tools like files and grinders for preparation, defect removal, and dimensional restoration. The position also requires learning to work with a range of materials such as heat-resistant ferrous alloys, nickel-base alloys, cobalt-base alloys, aluminum alloys, and titanium alloys. Additionally, the trainee will learn to operate material handling and lifting devices and maintain high housekeeping standards for a safe and efficient work area.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Vocational Technical High School (at least midway through junior year)
  • Currently enrolled in a welding/manufacturing program relevant hands-on welding/manufacturing experience or coursework
  • Distance Vision 20/30 (US) using corrected or uncorrected vision in either eye
  • Near Vision corrected or uncorrected in either eye, shall be the ability to read Jaeger No. 2 type at 16 inches (40.64 cm)
  • Ability to lift, move and manipulate fixtures and component hardware up to 25 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).

Responsibilities

  • Perform layout, set-up and welding on a variety of component parts and assemblies.
  • Fabricate, repair or rework using all required welding which may include manual arc processes (GTAW, TIG) semi-automated weld processes (GTAW, LW, EBW) using file, bench grinders, hand grinders, etc., to perform welding preparation, defect removal and manual dimensional restoration.
  • Work with materials such as heat-resistant ferrous alloys, nickel base alloys, cobalt-base alloys, aluminum alloys, and titanium alloys.
  • Learn and operate material handling and lifting devices.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards to ensure safe and efficient work areas, including cleaning around work area, tools, shop floor and maintaining organization of work area to established standards.
