About The Position

This position is for a Lynn Welder Trainee Co-Op who will work closely with an experienced Welder and Spot Welder. The trainee will learn to perform layout, set-up, and welding on various component parts and assemblies. They will also learn to fabricate, repair, or rework using different welding processes and materials, and operate material handling devices. Maintaining high housekeeping standards is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Vocational Technical High School (at least midway through junior year)
  • Currently enrolled in a welding/manufacturing program relevant hands-on welding/manufacturing experience or coursework
  • Distance Vision 20/30 (US) using corrected or uncorrected vision in either eye
  • Near Vision corrected or uncorrected in either eye, shall be the ability to read Jaeger No. 2 type at 16 inches (40.64 cm)
  • Ability to lift, move and manipulate fixtures and component hardware up to 25 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Ability to prove that you meet the status of a U.S. Person as one of the following: U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, have been granted asylee or refugee status (i.e., a protected individual under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)).

Responsibilities

  • Perform layout, set-up and welding on a variety of component parts and assemblies.
  • Learn to fabricate, repair or rework using all required welding which may include manual arc processes (GTAW, TIG) semi-automated weld processes (GTAW, LW, EBW) using file, bench grinders, hand grinders, etc., to perform welding preparation, defect removal and manual dimensional restoration.
  • Learn to work with materials such as heat-resistant ferrous alloys, nickel base alloys, cobalt-base alloys, aluminum alloys, and titanium alloys.
  • Ability to learn and operate material handling and lifting devices.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards to ensure safe and efficient work areas, including cleaning around work area, tools, shop floor and maintaining organization of work area to established standards.
