Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the State of Texas (for LVN role).
  • Graduation from an accredited school of vocational nursing (for LVN role).
  • Current AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card required (or within 60 days of hire for Medical Assistant).

  • Excellent computer and keyboarding skills, including familiarity with Windows.

  • Meet one of the following for Medical Assistant: Medical Assistant experience, or CNA/EMT/PCT (or other comparable experience) providing direct patient care, beyond Activities of Daily Living, including experience taking manual vitals and giving medications and/or injections, or Graduate of a medical assistant program.
  • Ability to administer medications & injections within scope of position within 90 days of hire (Medical Assistant).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology (Medical Assistant).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in an ambulatory or acute care setting preferred (for LVN).
  • Six (6) months or more experience as a Medical Assistant (for Medical Assistant).
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and completely report and document patient status, care rendered, response to care, provider orders, and contacts with patients and other healthcare providers.
  • Refill medications following ARC refill protocols.
  • Room patients, take and document vital signs, and prepare patients for provider examinations.
  • Follow clinic protocols and directions from the nursing team leader or supervisor.
  • Perform diagnostic testing including EKGs, audiograms, tympanograms, spirometry, and visual screenings, with appropriate reporting and documentation.
  • Monitor inventory of medical and office supplies and equipment, ensuring proper stocking and that supplies are current and not expired. Order supplies as needed.
  • Review Provider refill requests and assist with daily medication refill requests using the ARC refill protocol.
  • Review EPIC triage call in basket for any callbacks.
  • Clean patient rooms as needed, including proper handling of dirty laundry. Ensure the laundry cart is stocked with fresh linens daily.
  • Assist providers with sigmoidoscopy exams and cardiac stress testing by setting up equipment, assisting with patient preparation, and cleaning and storing equipment after the exam.
  • Maintain equipment (autoclaves, sterilizes, washes speculums, checks expiration dates, etc.).
  • Adhere to all company policies, including OSHA, HIPAA, compliance, and Code of Conduct.
  • Maintain regular and dependable attendance.
  • Follow the core competencies set forth by the Company.
  • Work holiday shifts as required by Company policy.
  • Administer medications and injections (LVN).
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients and distribute medications and treatments under physician order (LVN).
  • Teach and counsel patients and families concerning health assessment and care, including disease prevention and health maintenance (LVN).
  • Manage vaccines, including ordering, monitoring usage/wastage, maintaining vaccines, participating in educational opportunities, utilizing the Texas Vaccine for Children Provider Manual, and completing reportable documentation (LVN).
  • Facilitate the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the immunization program (LVN).
  • Call patients and inform them of lab results (LVN).
  • Perform patient follow-up activities including laboratory results and diagnostics, appointments, referrals, medications, and call backs (LVN).
  • Participate in the orientation of new employees.
  • Provide patients with educational materials as directed (Medical Assistant).
  • Administer medication under physician’s direction and within the scope of practice (Medical Assistant).
  • Call/inform patients of normal lab results and review provider instructions regarding abnormal results (Medical Assistant).
