About The Position

The Lunch Monitor assists with supervising students during lunch time in the cafeteria and on school grounds, with the possibility of extended hours. The role promotes good table manners and is responsible for students’ health, safety, and welfare during lunch periods, recess, and dismissal. Lunch Monitor shifts are 1–2 hours per day, depending on the school, with possible extended hours. The position is directly responsible to the Principal or their designee and may include other lunchroom supervisory duties assigned by the building Principal or designee.

• Frequent walking and standing, and lifting up to approximately 25 pounds may be required.
• Occasional movement of students using wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required.

Nice To Haves

• CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students in the cafeteria during lunch periods, including serving lines, meals, indoor and outdoor recess, and cafeteria dismissal.
• Promote good table manners and maintain discipline in accordance with school and district policies.
• Report student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems immediately to the Principal, Assistant Principal, or Head Teacher.
• Assist students with obtaining trays and food, finding seating, and dismissal.
• Assist cafeteria staff with cleaning spills and addressing accidents.
• Perform other lunchroom supervisory duties as assigned by the building Principal or designee.
