About The Position

ASED is seeking design engineers across multiple areas including mechanical, structural, and electrical engineering to support ambitious lunar exploration goals, specifically focusing on new Lunar Lander Spacecraft and adjacent hardware projects for the Artemis Program. These roles involve supporting aggressive schedules, working within integrated product teams with contractors and NASA Civil Servants, and releasing engineering documentation for flight hardware manufacturing. The position requires developing designs, detailed fabrication and assembly drawings, providing fabrication support, collaborating with vendors and NASA personnel, and delivering reports and presentations.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university
Experience in the approximate 5-30 year range
Proficiency in Creo/Pro-Engineer 3-D modeling and 2-D drafting
Proficiency utilizing Windchill
Demonstrated expertise in your specific design discipline applicable to flight hardware or other quality sensitive products
Must be a US Citizen and have a STAR ID
Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%)
Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%)
Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%)
Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks (40%)
Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and our facilities (10%)
Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%)
Normal workdays are from 7:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential (100%)
Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

Experience supporting NASA human spaceflight programs, aerospace, defense, or highly regulated technical programs
Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5M-1994) and experience applying GD&T to fully dimensioned production drawings
General understanding of manufacturability and design fabrication practices for flight hardware
Strong oral and written communication skills to better support the customer during design presentations and status meetings
