About The Position

ASED is seeking system design technicians across mechanical, structural, and electrical engineering to support ambitious lunar exploration goals, focusing on the new Lunar Lander Spacecraft and adjacent hardware projects for the Artemis Program. These roles involve generating engineering documentation, models, and drawings for various systems, supporting aggressive schedules, and collaborating with integrated product teams, contractors, and NASA Civil Servants. The primary function is to develop models and drawings for hardware manufacturing and assembly, requiring collaboration with outside vendors and NASA personnel, and delivering reports and presentations to management. Positions are primarily on-site, with potential for remote opportunities.

Requirements

  • High School diploma (associate’s degree preferred) and approximately 5-30 years of drafting experience.
  • Proficiency in Creo/Pro-Engineer 3-D modeling and 2-D drafting.
  • Proficiency utilizing Windchill.
  • Demonstrated expertise in your specific drafting discipline applicable to flight hardware or other quality sensitive products.
  • Must be a US Citizen and have a STAR ID.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting NASA human spaceflight programs, aerospace, defense, or highly regulated technical programs.
  • Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5M-1994) and experience applying GD&T to fully dimensioned production drawings.
  • Experience in tubing and wiring harness design and routing documentation.
  • General understanding of manufacturability and design fabrication practices for flight hardware.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to better support design collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Generating engineering documentation/models/drawings for mechanical component design, spacecraft structures design, fluid system design, electrical harness design, and mechanical and electrical system integration/assembly.
  • Supporting aggressive schedules to meet deliverable due dates.
  • Working as part of an integrated product team with other contractors and NASA Civil Servants to release engineering documentation for the manufacture of flight hardware.
  • Developing models and drawings to support hardware manufacturing and assembly.
  • Collaborating with outside vendors and personnel from NASA.
  • Developing and delivering reports and presentations to MSFC and Amentum management.
