About The Position

Forklift operators in the lumber yard safely and efficiently move, load, unload, stack, and relocate lumber materials and goods throughout the facility. They load delivery trucks and customer vehicles, work with team members to manage inventory and keep the yard organized, and uphold safety standards.

Requirements

• Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
• Ability to function well in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of related forklift experience.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds at times.
• Ability to climb onto and off a forklift, requiring agility and balance.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, particularly when loading or unloading trucks or moving materials around the lumberyard.
• Ability to work outside in heat and other weather.

Nice To Haves

• Basic knowledge of lumber products and characteristics.

Responsibilities

• Transport materials between various locations within the yard and loading areas.
• Assist delivery drivers with loading trucks.
• Communicate with team members to coordinate material handling and deliveries.
• Handle and organize materials in the yard as production is completed.
• Perform regular inspections and maintenance checks on forklifts and equipment to ensure safe operation.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
