About The Position

Pacific Supply is seeking a motivated sales professional to join our team as a Lumber Outside Sales Representative. Success in this role comes from strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work with a wide range of customers across the construction industry. While basic lumber knowledge is helpful, it’s not required — we’re committed to training the right individual from the ground up. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with customers in the construction, and remodeling to sell a wide range of lumber and building materials. The ideal candidate has a strong background in lumber products, exceptional customer service skills, and the ability to manage a territory and grow business through proactive sales strategies.

Requirements

  • Proven success in outside sales—ideally in the lumber industry, construction materials, building products, or distribution.
  • A relationship-builder who knows how to earn trust and deliver value to contractors, builders, and developers.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Hunger, hustle, and the confidence to own your territory.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and builds strong relationships with current customers while pursuing and growing business with new customers.
  • Clearly articulates to our customers the benefits of our products and added value of our services.
  • Demonstrates the desire to become an expert in the industry in order to build better customer relationships.
  • Attends trade association meetings as deemed necessary by management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, builders, developers, and other key clients.
  • Generate new business opportunities through cold calling, networking, and referrals.
  • Visit job sites and client offices regularly to provide product recommendations and support.
  • Provide accurate quotes, process orders, and follow up to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (inside sales, operations, dispatch) to meet delivery timelines and product specifications.
  • Stay informed on market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of company product offerings, especially framing lumber, engineered wood, plywood, and other construction materials.
  • Prepare and present regular sales reports, forecasts, and territory plans to management.
