About The Position

Kingsgate is establishing a dedicated LTL desk and seeking a leader to manage approximately $8M in annual LTL spend. This role will be responsible for carrier relationships, pricing, audit and claims, and developing a growth plan to expand the business to over $15M. The individual will serve as the primary LTL contact for customers and managed transportation programs, with the expectation that invoice audit and claims recovery will cover the role's cost in the first year.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of LTL-specific experience in carrier pricing, carrier account management, or 3PL LTL operations.
  • Proven track record in negotiating LTL pricing (CSPs, FAK, discount structures) directly with carriers.
  • Strong understanding of NMFC classification, density-based rating, dimensional accuracy, and accessorial structures.
  • Hands-on experience with claims management, including carrier liability limits, released versus full value, concealed-damage rules, and filing windows.
  • Proficiency in Excel for building carrier-mix and cost-breakdown analyses.
  • Demonstrated experience in building processes, desks, or programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience on the carrier side in LTL pricing or national accounts.
  • Familiarity with the Midwest LTL carrier landscape.
  • Experience with TMS systems (e.g., McLeod), LTL rating engines, and APIs.

  • Negotiate and manage customer-specific pricing (CSPs), FAK arrangements, and discount structures.
  • Monitor and manage GRI exposure and maintain a balanced carrier mix by lane and freight profile.
  • Establish and manage a routine invoice audit process to identify and challenge discrepancies such as reweighs, reclassifications, and accessorial charges, aiming for at least 4% of spend recovered annually.
  • Manage the entire claims process from filing to resolution, ensuring adherence to standards and liability rules, and holding carriers accountable.
  • Set quoting standards for classification, density, and accessorial accuracy to ensure margin protection, aiming for an invoice variance of 3% or less.
  • Lead LTL business reviews with customers, providing detailed cost-per-pound analysis.
  • Collaborate with Sales to identify and capture LTL spend within existing accounts and develop strategies for growth.
  • Hire, train, and develop LTL Operations Specialists as the desk expands, and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
