LPTA - Therapy Asst
About The Position
Western State Hospital, part of the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS), is seeking a LPTA Therapy Assistant. This role supports the physical therapist in improving client function by eliminating functional limitations, preventing disability, and maximizing functional independence while respecting psychiatric function. The hospital is a 302-bed Joint Commission/CMS-accredited psychiatric facility located in the scenic Shenandoah Valley, serving adults with serious mental health needs and recognized for its Psychosocial Rehabilitation “Learning” programs. Requirements
- Active PTA licensure in the state of Virginia

Responsibilities
- Provide PT intervention to clients based on physical therapy evaluation; providing mobility consults; procuring assistive devices and adjustments as needed
- Provide documentation for PT services to justify services and document progress and complete assigned unit client initial assessments in conjunction with other licensed rehab staff
- Produce written evidence that PSR interventions have been carried out
- Develop and implement PSR group interventions across all PSR Learning Centers
- Order clinic supplies as needed
