About The Position

The LPN provides nursing care to an assigned group of patients under the supervision of a registered nurse and in accordance with the hospital’s philosophy of patient care. The role supports patient assessment and care planning, medication administration, monitoring, examinations and procedures, patient and family education, documentation, and a safe therapeutic environment. The LPN is also responsible for professional development and other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
More than six months of job-related experience or equivalent.
Rhode Island state licensure.

Responsibilities

Assist the RN with the observation, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
Provide nursing care to an assigned group of patients using appropriate techniques, procedures, and safety precautions to meet individual needs.
Administer oral, IV, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and related medications according to established policies and procedures.
Monitor IV infusions and blood transfusions, including regulating flow rates and observing insertion sites.
Assist physicians and patients during examinations, procedures, and diagnostic tests as required.
Observe assigned patients and report care problems, changes in condition, or unexpected occurrences to the RN.
Provide patient and family teaching and evaluate patient understanding.
Assist with patient discharge or transport planning.
Maintain orderly medical records and document care and significant information legibly, accurately, and completely.
Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic patient environment in accordance with hospital standards.
Take responsibility for professional development by setting goals and using available resources, such as seminars, in-services, and journals.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
