About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for the accurate and timely administration of medications and treatments, documentation, and responding to emergency calls as indicated. This PRN role is in Memory Care, with listed shifts of 6 AM–6 PM and 6 PM–6 AM.

South Port Square is a senior living community in Port Charlotte, Florida, managed by Life Care Services. The position involves supporting residents’ care, dignity, safety, and continuity of services while communicating with residents, families, staff, visitors, and physicians.

Requirements

• Hold a current Licensed Practical Nurse license in good standing from the State of Florida.
• Have at least 6 months of nursing experience; geriatric involvement is preferable.
• Be able to present a warm, friendly, and caring manner.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and visitors.
• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
• Pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications.
• Administer treatments, including dressings, catheterization, suctioning, and oxygen.
• Assist with direct resident care as necessary.
• Maintain accurate documentation of medications administered and care rendered.
• Assist with admission and discharge procedures.
• Respond to the resident emergency call system as indicated.
• Make rounds with physicians and transcribe orders.
• Keep physicians and family members informed about changes in a resident’s condition.
• Maintain each patient’s self-respect, personal dignity, and physical safety.
• Assure continuity of services and care.
• Attend assigned in-service training and education sessions.
• Perform specific work duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
