About The Position

Presbyterian Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Medical Surgical team. In this role, you will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. The ideal candidate is committed to clinical excellence, teamwork, and supporting positive patient outcomes in a fast-paced acute care environment. In this role you will provide direct patient care in the acute care setting of the emergency department or inpatient area utilizing various nursing skills and established standards of care at the direction of a registered nurse. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current New Mexico Licensed Practical Nurse or Out of State Multistate/compact LPN License
  • BLS required
  • Basic Cardiac Arrythmia (BCA) for areas with cardiac telemetry monitoring
  • ACLS within 6 months of hire for areas where required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients within the LPN scope of practice.
  • Assist in the implementation of patient care plans under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
  • Monitor and report changes in patient condition to the appropriate healthcare team members.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and permitted by state regulations and organizational policy.
  • Perform patient assessments and document findings accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living and promote comfort, dignity, and safety.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions as directed.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and ancillary staff to coordinate patient care.
  • Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain competency and participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
