About The Position

The Critical Care Step Down (CCSU) is a 39-bed unit committed to providing high-quality, patient and family-centered care for patients with various medical conditions including pulmonary, cardiac, and neurological disorders. The unit also provides post-operative care for surgical patients requiring a higher level of nursing care and cares for ventilated tracheostomy patients. All unit staff receives hospital and nursing orientation, as well as unit-specific orientation and core competencies. The team consists of RNs and NAs, emphasizing teamwork for a cohesive nursing unit. The clinical nurse, under the ANA scope of practice, utilizes the nursing process and patient-family centered care principles to provide professional nursing care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an associate degree or higher (Diploma, A.D.N., B.S.N., M.S.N., DNP/PhD).
  • If not minimum BSN prepared, new graduate/nurse with less than one (1) year experience is required to sign an educational contract upon hire to complete BSN within specified timeframe and adhere to contract stipulations.
  • RN must enroll in an accredited BSN program within one (1) year of licensure date and complete within the next five (5) years (effective April 18, 2023).
  • Graduates from non-accredited school of nursing programs must have at least one year of acute care experience or greater than 2 years of experience in a licensed health care role (e.g., LPN or EMT) and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
  • LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association required
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association Critical Care, Emergency Care, Pre-Op and PACU, Radiology 180 Days required
