LPN, Medical Assistant, or Clinic Care Tech - 40 Hours Weekly - Endocrinology Clinic
About The Position
Essentia Health is hiring a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Clinic Care Technician (CCT) for its endocrinology practice at South University Clinic in Fargo, North Dakota. The role supports patient care and clinic operations in an endocrinology setting. The schedule is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with no weekend, holiday, or on-call rotations. LPNs and CMAs assist registered nurses, physicians, and other providers and deliver direct patient care in an ambulatory and/or home care setting. They perform procedures for which they have demonstrated competency and care for patients from newborn through elderly. Clinic Care Technicians primarily assist with daily patient flow. Duties may include greeting and rooming patients, taking vital signs, documenting in patient charts, stocking and cleaning exam rooms, maintaining clinic supplies, and providing clerical support. CCTs may float to other areas and may perform limited patient-care tasks based on training. The clinic offers access to modern clinical resources and interdisciplinary collaboration, with a focus on patient-centered education and evidence-based care for complex metabolic and endocrine conditions. Requirements
- Education as required for licensure.
- LPN: North Dakota LPN license required upon hire.
- LPN: Minnesota LPN license required within three months of hire.
- CMA: Current medical assistant registration or certification, or verifiable completion of a Medical Assistant Program; certification must be obtained within one year of hire and passed within two attempts.
- CMA: Registration as a Medication Assistant III through the North Dakota Board of Nursing is required within 60 days of hire or transfer; medication may not be administered before registration.
- LPN/CMA: AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required within three months of hire.
- CCT: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
Nice To Haves
- CCT: Experience in healthcare, patient care, electronic medical records (EMR), and/or medical terminology is preferred.
Responsibilities
- For LPNs and CMAs, assist registered nurses, physicians, and other providers and provide direct patient care in an ambulatory and/or home care setting.
- Perform identified procedures for which competency has been demonstrated.
- For CCTs, assist with daily patient flow, including greeting and rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, documenting in patient charts, stocking and cleaning exam rooms, and ordering and maintaining clinic supplies.
- Support providers and clinical staff with administrative and selected patient-care tasks.
- Support patient scheduling and work-queue needs as assigned.
- Follow up on no-shows and work with providers to review and approve add-ons.
- Support virtual visits and verify patient identification; obtain height, weight, and vital signs.
- Chaperone exams as needed.
- Administer questionnaires and document in the electronic medical record.
- Perform limited patient-care tasks based on training, as applicable to the CCT role.
- Assist with clerical duties and other duties as assigned.
- Float to support other areas as assigned, as applicable to the CCT role.
