About The Position

This role is within the Pulmonology department at the Springfield location, with a standard work week of 40 hours, typically from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on day shifts.

Requirements

  • Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Required effective 9/1/20: Graduated from or Completion of a formal MA training program that included pharmacology class, anatomy/physiology, the basics of medication administration, and completion of a clinical externship.
  • Required: None (for MA III)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Carry out delegated tasks under supervision of a provider.
  • Proficient Computer skills
  • Required: Certification or Registration from a CoxHealth approved certification program: CMA/AAMA, RMA/AMT, CCMA/NHA, NRCMA/NAHP, NCMA/NCCT, RMA/AAMP. (for MA III)
  • Required: Graduate of an state board accredited practical nursing program (for LPN)
  • Required: Current License Practical Nurse or Graduate Practical Nurse active in the state of Missouri (for LPN)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in work that involved direct contact with people (for MA III)
  • Previous experience in health care setting, particularly in an ambulatory clinic setting (for MA III)
  • Previous nursing experience, particularly in outpatient or ambulatory clinic setting (for LPN)
  • IV certification in State of Missouri (for LPN)

Responsibilities

  • Performs administrative duties including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and data entry in medical records.
  • Measures and records vital signs.
  • Collects demographics and medical information, including review of medication list.
  • Prepares patients for examination.
  • Cleans rooms and equipment and stocks supplies.
  • Administers medications as ordered by the physician.
  • Performs specific competencies as directed by the department.
