About The Position

This position at CoxHealth's Pulmonology clinic in Springfield involves both administrative and clinical duties. The LPN/Medical Assistant III will be responsible for tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and maintaining medical records. Clinical responsibilities include taking vital signs, collecting patient information, preparing patients for examinations, cleaning rooms and equipment, stocking supplies, and administering medications as ordered by a physician. The role requires the ability to perform specific competencies as directed by the department and work under the supervision of a provider or supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Graduated from or Completion of a formal MA training program that included pharmacology class, anatomy/physiology, the basics of medication administration, and completion of a clinical externship (Required effective 9/1/20).
  • Current License Practical Nurse or Graduate Practical Nurse active in the state of Missouri
  • Certification or Registration from a CoxHealth approved certification program: CMA/AAMA, RMA/AMT, CCMA/NHA, NRCMA/NAHP, NCMA/NCCT, RMA/AAMP.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Proficient Computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in work that involved direct contact with people
  • Previous experience in health care setting, particularly in an ambulatory clinic setting
  • Previous nursing experience, particularly in outpatient or ambulatory clinic setting
  • IV certification in State of Missouri

Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative duties including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and data entry in medical records.
  • Measure and record vital signs.
  • Collect demographics and medical information, including review of medication list.
  • Prepare patients for examination.
  • Clean rooms and equipment and stock supplies.
  • Administer medications as ordered by the physician.
  • Perform specific competencies as directed by the department.
  • Carry out delegated tasks under supervision of a provider.
