About The Position

Covenant Living is seeking a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse to provide quality care for residents in assisted living, skilled nursing, or memory care. The nurse monitors staff performance, contacts physicians, supports care planning, observes residents daily, and provides direct care in accordance with nursing standards, established procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations for skilled nursing facilities. The role is part-time, with an AM shift every other weekend.

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved school of licensed practical/vocational nursing.
• Current LPN/LVN license in good standing in the state.
• One year of nursing experience.
• Devotion to the standards and principles of professional nursing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with routine daily direction of nursing assistants and monitor their work to support high standards of nursing care and task completion.
• Assist with the orientation of new LPNs/LVNs and nursing assistants and reinforce training standards.
• Explain nursing procedures and provide staff assistance to support ongoing understanding and training.
• Communicate observations and suggestions, as well as resident and employee activities, concerns, needs, and conditions, to the Nurse Manager or Director of Nursing.
• Observe and evaluate residents’ health and mental and emotional conditions, and communicate significant changes to appropriate staff.
• Notify physicians and family members according to prescribed procedures when indicated.
• Provide direct resident care, including catheter placement and care, colostomy care, suction, dressings, naso-gastric tubes, and other treatments.
• Participate in reports at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure resident information is communicated.
• Assist with the admission, orientation, and observation of new residents.
• Ensure physician orders for diets, therapy, medication, and other matters are transcribed and communicated according to procedure.
