About The Position

Geisinger Convenient Care is a walk-in clinic offering convenient care for family health needs, including physicals, immunizations, and treatment for common illnesses. Clinics treat minor health issues that can typically be resolved in a single visit, such as cold and flu symptoms, allergies, sprains, strains, and minor cuts. Care is available to patients age one and older.

The Licensed Practical Nurse provides primary clinical support to providers, patients, and families to assist with diagnosis and treatment. The role supports continuity and quality of care by following up on diagnostic testing and ensuring results are completed, accurate, and filed in the medical record. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. This is a per diem/additional job opportunity, and new or experienced LPN applicants are welcome.

Requirements

• Graduate from a specialty training program in nursing.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Licensed Practical Nurse license.
• Skills in communication, computer literacy, customer service, multitasking, and teamwork.

• At least one year of nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and document patient medical history, chief complaint, and vital signs; provide basic medical data to the provider and prepare patients for examinations.
• Provide direct clinical care as directed by the provider.
• Assist providers with minor surgical and diagnostic procedures and ancillary diagnostic examinations.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and complete associated paperwork.
• Follow up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in the medical record.
• Document and carry out ongoing patient communications as directed by the provider; prioritize communications to the provider and respond to patient questions and requests.
• Administer medications and vaccines, including intradermal and skin testing, under provider direction and within scope of practice.
• Clean and set up examination and treatment rooms between cases, maintaining asepsis and ensuring the availability of appropriate instruments and equipment.
• Promote a clean environment.
• Meet the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range served by the assigned clinical area.
• Satisfy job-specific obligations and comply with organizational policies and procedures.
