About The Position

This is a full-time night position on 6 West, a 34-bed Medical/Telemetry unit. The unit offers variety with a diverse patient population and diagnoses, including conditions such as COPD, pneumonia, CHF, hypertension, diabetes, GI bleed, and liver disease. Patients requiring cardiac monitoring are managed on the telemetry floor. All licensed nurses are dysrhythmia certified, with an option to become ACLS certified.

Requirements

  • Completed the prescribed curricula of a practical nursing program or has completed equivalent coursework as approved and verified by a state board of nursing and holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or certificate therefrom.
  • Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Licensed Practical Nurse License.
  • 0 - 6 months related experience.
  • Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.
  • Demonstrates sound knowledge base appropriate to specialty area with consideration for patient's age and bio-psychosocial needs.
  • All licensed nurses are dysrhythmia certified.

Nice To Haves

  • Option to become ACLS certified.

Responsibilities

  • Administers nursing care to an assigned group of patients based on physician's orders and nursing care plan.
  • Consults with Registered Nurse to plan patient care.
  • Performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties including data collection.
  • Performs nursing skills appropriate for the patient population.
  • Gathers data, implements, and evaluates care for an assigned group of patients based on physician's orders and Nursing Care Plan.
  • Takes and notes physician's orders accurately.
  • Documents data on the appropriate record.
  • Documents nursing process/care clearly, consistently, and accurately.
  • Addresses patient problems and progress toward outcomes.
  • Facilitates patient teaching -- implements discharge planning.
  • Makes appropriate referrals.
  • Follows plan of care per policy in presenting patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors.
  • Supports unit/hospital goals through PI and educational activities.
  • Attends mandatory in-services and meets unit education standards.
  • Accurately completes variance reports.
  • Modifies behaviors or performance to comply with care standards and unit requirements.
