About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Float in the Emergency Department provides age-appropriate patient care under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. The LPN’s scope of practice is determined by the Kentucky Nurse Practice Act and Baptist Health Hardin and Nursing Service policies, procedures, and standards of practice. The position assists with gathering initial assessment data, excluding the admission physical assessment, contributes to reassessments, and evaluates patient progress toward established goals while communicating with the RN as needed. The LPN includes patients, families, and significant others in data collection, and performs treatments and administers medications in accordance with policies and procedures and within the LPN scope of practice.

Requirements

Complete an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program leading to licensure.
Hold a current, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse license in Kentucky.
Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
Complete mandatory nonviolent crisis prevention training before the end of the orientation period and maintain it annually.
