About The Position

The Baldwin School is seeking a part-time Lower School Admissions Tester to play a key role in supporting the admissions process by helping families navigate their first steps into our school community. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Enrollment and Outreach, this position is responsible for administering pre-admission assessments and assisting with admissions events. Successful candidates will have an understanding of and appreciation for girls' education. Successful candidates will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a thoughtful and welcoming approach when working with young children and their families. They will possess a balance of professionalism, empathy, and attention to detail, helping ensure that each family's experience reflects the values and warmth of our school.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience in early childhood and elementary education required
  • Availability to work three to four days per week, with flexibility to adjust the schedule as needed.
  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend events, as required
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and to set priorities in order to achieve goals and objectives
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing a high level of customer service
  • Discretion and professionalism in managing sensitive information
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Comfortable speaking in both small and large group settings and with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Proven ability to contribute to a team-oriented, student-centered work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with educational testing
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and familiarity with student information system technologies

Responsibilities

  • Administer assessments to students applying to Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and Grades 1 through 6. These assessments are conducted during group Play Sessions (Pre-K and Kindergarten) as well as individual student visits throughout the week.
  • Create a positive and supportive environment in which each student feels confident and comfortable during the assessment experience. Establish rapport with both the child and their parents prior to the start of the assessment.
  • Provide written reports within 48 hours of each individual testing session or Play Session. Reports should include detailed information on the child's abilities, academic performance, learning strengths and needs, as well as observations related to language, memory, attention, and behavioral, emotional, and social functioning.
  • Assist with a variety of enrollment-related activities, including the proctoring of internal assessments for all grades, preparation for events, support during events, and responsibilities following event completion.
  • Contribute to the overall goals of the Enrollment Management Office and perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Enrollment Officer or the Head of School.
