2027 New Grad Low Observables Engineer

Anduril•Costa Mesa, CA

About The Position

Anduril’s Air Dominance and Strike Low Observables Team advances low-observable technology to improve the survivability and effectiveness of unmanned air systems. The team designs, analyzes, tests, and sustains stealth features that reduce radar cross-section (RCS) and infrared (IR) signatures. This early-career role is for engineers pursuing or recently completing a degree in aerospace, electrical, mechanical engineering, or a related field. Prior stealth experience is not required; the team will teach low-observable methods and pair the new graduate with an LO engineer to work on a scoped part of a live program. The role combines vehicle shape, electromagnetic surface behavior, and materials and manufacturing processes. The engineer will contribute to RCS analysis, system design, analysis tools, material selection, manufacturing and validation planning, and measurement campaigns. The position is intended for candidates able to start in 2027.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing or have recently completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.
  • Must be able to start in 2027.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework in at least one of electromagnetics or RF, aircraft or vehicle design, or materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Working knowledge of a scripting or analysis language such as MATLAB, Python, or C++.
  • Familiarity with a 3D CAD package such as NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, or Creo.
  • Demonstrated hands-on engineering work through a capstone or senior design project, internship, undergraduate research, or student competition team.
  • Ability to explain a technical result clearly in writing and in a design review.
  • Exposure to an electromagnetic simulation tool such as HFSS, CST, FEKO, or COMSOL.
  • Coursework or project experience with composites, additive manufacturing, casting, or injection molding.
  • Experience with laboratory RF measurement, including network analyzers, anechoic chambers, or antenna pattern measurement.
  • Experience reducing, visualizing, and sanity-checking measured data sets.
  • A prior internship or co-op in aerospace, defense, or another hardware-heavy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Run broadband radar cross-section (RCS) analysis on components and full air vehicles, and assess whether predictions can be trusted.
  • Support the design and development of low-observable unmanned air systems, from early configuration trades through detailed design.
  • Build and improve analysis tools, scripts, and validation workflows.
  • Model low-observable materials and treatments, and help select and optimize them for specific components.
  • Support manufacturing and validation planning, including tolerances, inspection methods, and producibility at rate.
  • Help plan and execute RCS measurement campaigns in indoor chambers and on outdoor ranges, then reduce and interpret the data.
  • Compare measured results against predictions, investigate disagreements, and use findings to improve models.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, including a comprehensive, competitive benefits package available at little to no cost to employees.
