About The Position

The Low Carbon Origination Specialist is responsible for growing and supporting low carbon intensity (CI) grain supply programs, with a focus on farmer engagement, 45Z program implementation, and low CI corn origination. This role serves as the primary farmer-facing contact for these programs, providing technical guidance, leading enrollment, and coordinating with partners to ensure compliance and program success. The specialist will also identify and build relationships with producers adopting low CI farming practices and organize educational events. Collaboration with internal merchandising, sustainability, and compliance teams is crucial for the growth of low carbon grain supply chains.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Ag Business, Business, Finance, or Agronomy.
• A valid driver’s license
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with spreadsheet and word-processing software (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet strict monthly deadlines.
• Proactively approaches job duties and potential problems.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.

Nice To Haves

• 2-3 years experience in grain origination with producers and/or commercial organizations.
• A background in agronomy or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of farm operations, crop production systems, and on-farm decision-making, with the ability to effectively engage producers on agronomic, operational, and business considerations.
• Knowledge of low carbon fuel markets, 45Z tax credit programs, regenerative agriculture, or sustainability initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary farmer-facing contact for low CI and 45Z programs, providing technical guidance on program requirements, eligible practices, data collection, recordkeeping, contracting, and premium opportunities.
• Originate and secure low CI corn volumes to meet customer and biofuel market demand.
• Lead farmer enrollment and onboarding into low CI feedstock programs, including contract execution, bushel tracking, and CI score projections.
• Maintain program records and support reporting requirements related to low CI grain origination, feedstock compliance, and program performance.
• Coordinate with MRV (Measurement, Reporting, and Verification) partners and support farmers in completing required data collection and submissions.
• Identify, recruit, and build relationships with producers adopting low CI farming practices.
• Plan and deliver producer-facing events, meetings, and educational programs focused on low carbon agriculture and biofuel feedstock opportunities.
• Work closely with internal merchandising, sustainability, and compliance teams to support growth of low carbon grain supply chains.
