About The Position

The Iowa Department of Revenue’s Lottery Division is seeking a swing District Sales Representative for the entire Region 3 geographical area, which includes 22 counties in Northeast Iowa. The selected applicant must reside in Cerro Gordo, Floyd, Chickasaw, Franklin, Butler, or Bremer County, and applicants must live in Iowa. The Lottery Division provides responsible entertainment and prizes while generating revenue for state programs supporting veterans, economic development, law enforcement, education, and agriculture. The representative promotes and sells Lottery tickets to retail outlets, distributes tickets and promotional materials, develops retail promotions, and analyzes sales data. The position also involves safeguarding tickets, explaining proper ticket handling to retailers, and providing backup support for daily regional office duties. Employees must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driver’s license. The Department of Revenue describes itself as a customer-focused employer offering a team atmosphere, work-life balance, free parking, and casual attire. A background check, including criminal history, fingerprints, and an Iowa tax filing check, will be conducted for the final candidate. Effective July 1, 2025, Department staff and members of their households may not play Iowa Lottery games.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must reside in Iowa and in one of these counties: Cerro Gordo, Floyd, Chickasaw, Franklin, Butler, or Bremer.
One year of full-time work experience in product sales or promotion as a manufacturer’s representative or route sales person, including servicing existing customers or directly soliciting potential customers to purchase a product or service. Retail sales experience in a grocery, convenience, or department store, restaurant, or other enterprise does not qualify.

Responsibilities

Represent the state Lottery in the sales, marketing, and promotion of Lottery tickets.
Travel to retail outlets in the assigned region to distribute Lottery tickets and point-of-sale promotional materials.
Develop and establish sales promotions at retail outlets.
Maintain the security of Lottery tickets and explain proper ticket handling to retailers to ensure secure selling environments.
Analyze retailer sales data to optimize Lottery ticket promotion and sales at retail outlets.
Back up the regional office with various daily duties.
