Canyon Ranch Austin is seeking an experienced and highly professional Loss Prevention Manager to join our pre-opening leadership team. This critical leadership position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of resort safety, security, emergency preparedness, asset protection, and risk management. Serving as the resort's primary security and life safety leader, the Loss Prevention Manager will establish the foundation for a comprehensive safety and security program that protects guests, colleagues, visitors, physical assets, and the Canyon Ranch brand. This role will lead the property's Loss Prevention team while partnering closely with operational leaders to foster a culture where safety, wellness, hospitality, and security coexist seamlessly. The ideal candidate understands that luxury security is discreet, proactive, and service-oriented. Success in this role requires exceptional leadership, sound judgment, strong investigative abilities, and the ability to remain calm and decisive in dynamic situations. This position is anticiapted to start September 1, 2026.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in hospitality security, loss prevention, law enforcement, military, emergency management, or related fields.
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience overseeing security or loss prevention operations.
  • Experience developing and implementing emergency preparedness and life safety programs.
  • Strong investigative, report writing, and incident management skills.
  • Knowledge of security technology including CCTV, access control, key systems, and alarm monitoring platforms.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements, workplace safety standards, and emergency response protocols.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in sensitive situations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and incident reporting software.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays, evenings, and emergency response situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior luxury hotel or resort experience.
  • Previous pre-opening hotel or resort experience.
  • Experience with large-scale destination resorts or wellness properties.
  • Professional certifications such as CPP, PSP, CHPA, CFI, FEMA certifications, or related credentials.
  • Law enforcement, military leadership, emergency management, or corporate security background.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED, and Incident Command System (ICS) certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all Loss Prevention and Life Safety pre-opening planning and operational readiness activities.
  • Develop and implement departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), emergency response plans, security protocols, and life safety programs.
  • Participate in the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of Loss Prevention colleagues.
  • Coordinate installation, testing, and commissioning of security systems including CCTV, access control systems, intrusion detection, key management systems, radio communications, and life safety systems.
  • Partner with project teams, Engineering, IT, and contractors to ensure security and life safety considerations are integrated throughout the resort.
  • Conduct risk assessments and security evaluations of guest areas, back-of-house facilities, employee spaces, wellness facilities, parking areas, and perimeter operations.
  • Develop opening readiness exercises, tabletop drills, and emergency response training programs.
  • Direct daily Loss Prevention operations throughout the resort.
  • Maintain a highly visible yet guest-friendly presence across all areas of the property.
  • Develop and oversee patrol programs for guest areas, wellness facilities, back-of-house operations, parking areas, trails, and resort grounds.
  • Monitor resort security systems and ensure effective operation of surveillance, access control, and alarm systems.
  • Oversee key control, credential management, and access authorization programs.
  • Conduct routine security audits and operational assessments to identify vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain effective relationships with local law enforcement, fire departments, emergency medical services, and emergency management agencies.
  • Serve as the resort's primary emergency response coordinator.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans covering fire, severe weather, medical emergencies, active threats, missing persons, utility disruptions, natural disasters, and other critical incidents.
  • Lead emergency preparedness training and drills for all departments.
  • Partner with Engineering to ensure compliance and operational readiness of fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, emergency generators, and life safety infrastructure.
  • Coordinate incident command activities during emergencies and critical events.
  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Conduct investigations involving guest incidents, associate concerns, theft, fraud, workplace misconduct, property damage, liability claims, and policy violations.
  • Prepare detailed investigative reports and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Partner with Human Resources and leadership teams on workplace investigations and risk mitigation efforts.
  • Monitor trends and implement preventive measures to reduce losses and operational risks.
  • Support insurance claims investigations and incident reporting processes.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in all investigative matters.
  • Promote a culture of safety and security throughout the resort.
  • Develop programs focused on associate safety awareness, workplace violence prevention, and emergency response readiness.
  • Support guest wellbeing through proactive risk identification and response planning.
  • Ensure proper management of guest valuables, lost and found operations, and sensitive information.
  • Assist with VIP arrivals, special events, executive protection needs, and high-profile guest accommodations as required.
  • Provide service-oriented security interactions that align with Canyon Ranch hospitality standards.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, forecasts, labor plans, and capital expenditures.
  • Monitor staffing levels, scheduling, payroll, and operational expenses.
  • Oversee vendor relationships and service contracts related to security technology and life safety systems.
  • Maintain accurate departmental records, incident reports, training documentation, and compliance files.
  • Analyze operational data and security trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain a highly professional Loss Prevention team.
  • Establish performance standards, accountability measures, and service expectations.
  • Conduct regular training, coaching, and professional development sessions.
  • Lead daily briefings, incident reviews, and operational meetings.
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, integrity, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to resort leadership regarding safety, security, and risk management matters.
