About The Position

The primary goal of this position is to plan, organize, and present instruction and instructional environments that help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their cognitive, physical, and social/emotional development in the 21st century. This role involves differentiating instruction, managing classroom time and behavior, motivating students, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance student learning. The teacher will also be responsible for monitoring student performance and interacting within the educational environment. Additional duties may include coordinating the activities of a Teacher Assistant and performing other related work as required.

Requirements

Minimum Bachelor’s degree from an approved education program in subject area
NC Teaching License or qualifications to obtain a NC Teaching License
Strong background in North Carolina Standard Course of Study/Common Core and Essential Standards
Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
Exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer
See and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
Hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone
Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height
Ability to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead
Demonstrate leadership in the classroom by taking responsibility for all students’ learning
Demonstrate leadership in the school by working collaboratively with all school personnel to create a professional learning community
Lead the teaching profession by striving to improve the profession
Advocate for schools and students by promoting positive change in policies and practices affecting student learning

Responsibilities

Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
