About The Position

SDJA seeks a Middle School Math Teacher (Long-term Substitute) to cover a leave of absence. This is a temporary full-time position expected to run from approximately August through January. The successful candidate will bring an engaging, student-centered approach to teaching mathematics and a genuine love of working with middle school students. The teacher will help students build confidence and fluency in math while fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate knows how to make math approachable and meaningful, supporting a range of learners while encouraging students to take risks, ask questions, and develop a positive relationship with mathematics. The successful candidate will teach the following five high school courses: Statistics, Geometry, Geometry Honors, Algebra II, Algebra II Honors.

Requirements

  • A strong understanding of middle school mathematics instruction
  • A bachelor's degree
  • Prior teaching experience
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Willing to undergo Live Scan background check and TB screening
