About The Position

Drew Charter School is seeking a Long Term Substitute Fine Arts teacher to provide instruction to students and ensure continuity of learning during the absence of the permanent teachers. This position will report to the school each day and the assignment will last for the remainder of the school year. The Fine Arts Long Term Substitute reports to the Senior Director of Fine Arts and STEAM. Drew Charter School is committed to providing a rigorous and supportive educational continuum for its nearly 1,900 students in grades PreK-12, focusing on a STEAM/Project-Based Learning (PBL) instructional model and a robust College and Career Readiness program, all designed to ensure equitable outcomes for its diverse student population.

Requirements

  • Provide instruction to students
  • Ensure continuity of appropriate learning during the absence of the permanent teachers
  • Report to the school each day
  • Provide instruction in a virtual OR face to face environment
  • Work with teachers to implement Drew’s instructional initiatives and programming such as PBL, EL & STEAM
  • Display competence in utilizing a variety of instructional technology platforms
  • Maintain up to date sharing of information with parents and colleagues
  • Maintain a safe and orderly environment
  • Maintain established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned
  • Maintain a professional appearance
  • Remain at school the entire school day, unless otherwise instructed to leave by supervisor
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Maintain reasonable rules of conduct which encourage self-discipline and responsibility
  • Communicate effectively with parents as needed
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and times designated
  • Monitor students in the classroom, at lunch and throughout the school (when applicable)
  • Perform duties, as assigned, with awareness of Drew Charter School policies and practices

Responsibilities

  • Adjust and modify lesson plans and components to reflect the needs of students as requested
  • Provide instruction in a virtual OR face to face environment
