About The Position

Fruitport Community Schools is seeking a Long Term Substitute - ELA Teacher at Fruitport High School. The approximate assignment dates are January 4, 2026 through June 9, 2026. The role involves following curriculum and assessment requirements, collaborating with teachers and a Professional Learning Community, using technology to support instruction, and implementing cooperative learning and flexible grouping strategies. The substitute must follow Board of Education policies, administrative guidelines, and building regulations, and perform other duties as directed by the principal.

Requirements

• Be eligible for a substitute teaching permit (required).

Nice To Haves

• A valid Michigan teaching certificate with a BA or BX endorsement is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Effectively follow district and state curriculum and assessment requirements.
• Work collaboratively as a team member of an effective Professional Learning Community (PLC).
• Use knowledge of Positive Behavior Interventions & Support (PBIS).
• Use technology as an instructional tool to enhance teaching and learning.
• Regularly implement cooperative learning strategies and flexible grouping strategies.
• Collaborate with teams of teachers, including special education teachers.
• Follow and implement all Board of Education policies, administrative guidelines, and building regulations.
• Perform other duties as necessary and/or directed by the principal.
