About The Position

Summit School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated elementary teacher to substitute for a faculty member on maternity leave. This is a full-time, long-term substitute position for a 3rd Grade Lead Teacher, running from October 2026 to mid-January 2027. The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching the Third Grade program, including Language Arts and Math, as well as some Social Studies and Science. The role involves the general wellbeing and development of the class group of students and collaboration with the class's assistant teacher. The school offers support for the substitute to become familiar with the school culture, community, and systems before the leave begins. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
Demonstrated proficiency with a variety of pedagogical approaches, including technology to enhance and extend learning.
Experience in developing and delivering engaging and interactive lessons.
Strong communication skills.
Excellent ability in written and spoken English.
Flexibility and adaptability.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.

Nice To Haves

A demonstrated ability in teaching mathematics and a passion for the subject is an advantage.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day responsibility for one of the two Third Grade classes.
Teaching the Third Grade program, including Language Arts and Math.
Responsible for the general wellbeing and development of the class group of students.
Teaching Social Studies and Science to their class.
Collaborative planning with the class's assistant teacher.
Traverse the campus and adjust tone and height by bending or leaning to teach children.
Provide adequate supervision to students in varied settings, including outdoor classrooms and the greenhouse.
Perform standard classroom/lab tasks.
