Logistics Strategy Manager
About The Position
The Logistics Strategy Manager leads logistics strategy for Trane Rental Services. Reporting to the Customer Experience Leader, the role manages logistics spending, supports internal customers, and drives improvements in logistics quality, productivity, and operational performance. The position partners with Customer Service and external carriers, manages facility growth and expansion projects, and develops strategies for equipment movement, freight costs, transit times, and carrier capacity. The role is onsite Monday through Thursday, with the option to choose the work location on Fridays according to work requirements. The position is safety sensitive.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least 7 years of experience in logistics operations.
- At least 3 years of people leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience leading strategy and managing logistics brokers, trucking companies, and freight spend.
- General knowledge of ground logistics and the freight market.
- Strong analytical skills, including efficient data extraction and comparison.
- Ability to influence change across internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve business challenges.
- Strong experience with Lean concepts, continuous improvement, and problem solving.
Nice To Haves
- Understanding of the Oracle Transportation Management system.
Responsibilities
- Lead logistics for Trane Rental Services through continuous improvement and by maintaining standard work and operating procedures that support the business strategy.
- Drive productivity projects by managing logistics spend and optimizing shipments for cost, transit, and service.
- Drive operational excellence through KPI ownership, performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support internal customers and carriers in resolving quality and delivery issues.
- Lead and support productivity workshops to develop a pipeline of continuous improvement ideas.
- Manage projects focused on facility growth and expansion.
- Partner with the Trane Rental Services Customer Service team on carrier selection and management.
- Support solutions that allow users to access and share data about logistics costs, transit times, and real-time market conditions.
- Analyze equipment moves to identify trends and develop strategies for managing miles traveled and freight costs while maintaining a suitable carrier pool.
- Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining standard operating procedures and work instructions for the functional area.
