About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Logistics Specialist – Truck Driver to join their team in Winchester, VA. This role directly supports customer warehouse operations logistics, including shipping, receiving, accountability, and storage. The specialist must possess a Class A driver's license with endorsements and be proficient in operating various vehicles and equipment such as tractor-trailers, box trucks, and forklifts. An active DoD TS/SCI security clearance, adjudicated within the last 5 years or designated CE, is required, along with the ability to obtain and maintain special accesses.

Requirements

  • Class A CDL with 10 years of experience driving over the road.
  • Must be able to pass a DOT Physical.
  • Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance required with adjudication within the last 5 years or designated CE.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain special accesses.
  • Basic knowledge in operating MS-Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Thorough knowledge of the safe operation of a range of vehicles and material handling equipment (i.e., cab-over, day cab, and conventional tractors; flatbed, lowboy, car carrier, 53 foot, and wide load trailers within the scope of the commercial Class A driver's license, with endorsements).
  • Thorough knowledge of DOT regulations on transportation.
  • Expert ability to read maps and follow directions to locate proper delivery destinations.
  • Ability to operate a range of vehicles, including box trucks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
  • Current valid DOT medical physical for operating trucks.
  • Able to operate manual and automatic transmissions.

  • Forklift certification up to 8000lb capacity, or able to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Execute logistics and warehousing activities, including operating specialized software for procurement, inventory management, and supply chain planning.
  • Maintain and update inventories in the Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS).
  • Utilize Microsoft Office suite to generate reports on logistics activities for leadership.
  • Responsible for the packaging and documentation of all materials, ensuring proper labeling and storage.
  • Safely operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) such as pallet jacks and forklifts.
  • Receive local or nationwide trip assignments and perform safety inspections of vehicles, noting any necessary repairs.
  • Conduct routine vehicle checks to ensure readiness for trips.
  • Assist with truck loading, adhering to weight distribution guidelines and limitations.
  • Drive trucks to designated local or nationwide delivery points, potentially accompanied by another driver.
  • Identify items requiring special handling at delivery points.
  • Unload trucks using various material handling equipment.
  • Assist crew with loading backhaul cargo, following weight distribution guidelines.
  • Travel as needed (20-30%).
  • Maintain a safe work environment by completing training, participating in emergency response, and serving on safety committees.
  • Adhere to the Amentum Quality Policy and carry out job activities in compliance with Quality System documents and customer contracts.
  • Implement general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies.
