About The Position

The Sourcing Manager is responsible for leading purchasing and sourcing activities for assigned logistics categories (Haulaway, Ocean, Port Processing, Rail (Outbound/Inbound) & Yard Management, or other). This role develops sourcing strategies, manages competitive bid events, negotiates supplier agreements, supports budget execution, and partners cross-functionally to deliver cost, quality, timing, and risk objectives. The role requires a self-directed person who can work independently, prioritize enterprise value, and manage sourcing decisions in alignment with company policies and procedures. A strong Sourcing Manager is commercially minded, data-driven, and comfortable leading complex sourcing work with a high level of ownership. They balance supplier relationships, budget performance, policy compliance, and operational risk while driving competitive outcomes for the business.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in purchasing, supply chain, logistics, program/product management, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical judgment and ability to use data to make sound business decisions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong relationship management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Negotiation, capability and comfort working with suppliers on commercial topics.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results with limited oversight.
  • Experience with SAP or other purchasing systems, or ability to learn quickly.
  • Willingness to travel as needed, approximately 10 percent.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent experience applying AI/analytics in a logistics or sourcing environment.
  • Experience with commodity management and sourcing strategy development.
  • Background in cost analysis, manufacturing, or capacity/materials management.
  • Automotive or industrial sourcing experience.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and understand engineering drivers.
  • Working knowledge of contract law and market or regulatory considerations affecting sourcing decisions.
  • Leverage advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and data-driven tools to evaluate sourcing strategies, optimize cost structures, and drive informed decision-making across the logistics network.
  • Demonstrate strong technical and analytical capability, including experience with data science concepts and tools (e.g., Python, SQL, or similar), to support modeling, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Finished Vehicle Logistics commodity and sourcing strategies.
  • Lead sourcing events, including bid strategy, bid list development, RFQs, quote analysis, and supplier selection recommendations.
  • Coordinate RFQ package requirements, including terms and conditions, technical documentation, quality inputs, and compliance requirements.
  • Negotiate commercial terms with suppliers and support contract development, amendments, spot buys, and rate management activities.
  • Maintain sourcing pipeline data, benchmarking, budgets, strategy presentations, and performance metrics.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders and serve as a focal point for commercial issue resolution.
  • Lead or support supplier performance reviews, KPI discussions, and risk mitigation efforts related to supply continuity.
  • Drive continuous improvement, savings opportunities, automation, and innovative solutions across the sourcing process.
  • Support additional projects and priorities assigned by leadership.
