About The Position

MedSpeed is a healthcare logistics company that partners with organizations nationwide to transport medical supplies and specimens. The Logistics Service Representative/Medical Driver safely transports lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials between healthcare clients. Most of the workday is spent driving a company-owned vehicle, with long-distance driving throughout Michigan. The role also involves tracking items with a handheld scanning device, loading and unloading vehicles, inspecting and maintaining the vehicle, and following operating policies, procedures, and service schedules. Route duties and assignments may vary according to client and business needs, and the employee must be able to perform duties across assigned routes. This is a part-time position in Grand Blanc, Michigan, scheduled Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., paying $16.00 per hour. MedSpeed provides training and a company vehicle. Candidates must have a valid Michigan chauffeur’s license or be willing to obtain one independently before starting, and must have received a COVID-19 vaccination or be willing to obtain it independently before their start date. Candidates receiving an offer must complete a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review.

Requirements

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
At least 19 years of age and an active driver’s license for at least 3 years.
Demonstrated dependability and reliability.
Familiarity with and ability to adapt to technology.
Demonstrated ability to follow procedures closely.
Ability to determine efficient routing between multiple points.
Ability to pass initial and random drug and alcohol screening.
Ability to operate a company vehicle equipped with dashcam recording; video is captured while driving in accordance with applicable laws and company safety policies.
Ability to drive a non-commercial vehicle throughout the shift on various roads and in varying weather conditions.
An active Michigan chauffeur’s license, or willingness to obtain one independently before the start date.
Excellent driving history.
COVID-19 vaccination, depending on location and local mandates; the posting also states candidates must have received the vaccination or be willing to obtain it independently before their start date.
Ability to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, lift items off storage racks, walk long distances, and stand for long periods.
Ability to handle varying item weights and physical demands despite changes in drop-off, pick-up, and route assignments.
Successful completion of a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

Safely drive a company-owned vehicle to transport medical specimens, records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials.
Use a handheld scanning device to accurately track items through the transportation cycle.
Follow operating policies, procedures, and service schedules.
Present a professional image to clients and the public through appearance and interaction.
Load and unload company vehicles using appropriate equipment.
