About The Position

MedSpeed is a healthcare logistics company that partners with organizations nationwide to transport medical supplies and specimens. The Medical Driver, also described as a Logistics Service Representative/Medical Driver, safely transports specimens and other materials for healthcare clients, including hospitals, physician offices, and laboratories. This role primarily involves driving a company-owned vehicle and may include collecting specimens in Greencastle, Brazil, and Terre Haute. Routes and duties vary with client and business needs, and assignments may change over time. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. MedSpeed provides training through its Blue Shirt Certified program and offers a company vehicle, fixed schedules, career advancement opportunities, and benefits including medical, dental, vision, FSA, 401(k), and paid time off. Candidates receiving an employment offer must complete a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review. A COVID-19 vaccination record may be required depending on location and local mandates.

Requirements

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
At least 19 years of age and an active driver’s license held for at least 3 years.
Demonstrated dependability and reliability.
Familiarity with and ability to adapt to technology.
Demonstrated ability to follow procedures closely.
Ability to determine efficient routing between multiple points.
Ability to pass initial and random drug and alcohol screening.
Ability to drive a non-commercial vehicle throughout the shift on various roads and in varying weather conditions.
Excellent driving history.
Ability to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, lift items off storage racks, walk long distances, and stand for long periods.
Ability to handle varying item weights and physical demands despite variation in pickup and drop-off responsibilities and routes.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination, depending on location and local mandates.
Successful completion of a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

Safely drive a company-owned vehicle to transport lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, x-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials.
Collect specimens in Greencastle, Brazil, and Terre Haute.
Use a handheld scanning device to track items through the transportation cycle.
Follow operating policies, procedures, and service schedules.
Present a professional image to clients and the public through appearance and interactions.
Load and unload company vehicles using appropriate equipment.
Drive safely and courteously.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and keep the vehicle clean, neat, and orderly.
Perform duties across assigned routes; adapt to route changes and varying client and business needs.
Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation, and adaptability with teammates and clients.
Help build and nurture a collaborative MedSpeed team culture.
