Logistics Production Manager
About The Position
The 1st Shift Logistics Production Manager leads logistics operations across kitting, storage, and repackaging areas, driving efficiency, ensuring smooth workflows, and supporting production performance. The role is responsible for meeting Caterpillar goals for People, Quality, Velocity, and Cost in support of a 24/7 operation. It supports the kitting business and routinely interacts with internal business partners, cross-facility leaders, suppliers, carriers, and approximately 20 direct-report teammates. Working directly with the Senior Production Manager, the role leads, manages, and refines all aspects of the business and contributes to its overall vision and direction. The position is located in Decatur, Illinois, with travel up to 5%. Relocation assistance is available; visa sponsorship is not offered.
Requirements
- Previous supervisor experience in a manufacturing environment.
- A degree or equivalent work experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong leadership, team-building, and execution background.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of employees.
- Good human relations skills to develop cooperative working relationships with people inside and outside the department.
- Experience with RCCA.

Responsibilities
- Create reports and records of logistics processes and inventory accuracy, share them with managers, and suggest improvements to safety, productivity, and quality.
- Prepare, maintain, and update documentation related to logistics procedures and safety and quality standards.
- Ensure processes and products meet desired safety and quality standards.
- Supervise and direct the daily activities of material handlers, assign tasks, coordinate teams, ensure safety, and monitor performance.
- Train new hires, manage scheduling and work conflicts, monitor safety, and promote internal communication and continuous improvement.
