About The Position

Responsible for the development and maximization of regional inbound logistics freight income to meet company AOP targets and support other logistics/supply chain initiatives across the company. Lead the “soup to nuts” conversion of vendor delivered freight to USF managed loads to drive case and revenue growth.

Requirements

  • High School or GED required, additional college courses in business, math preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of purchasing, and/or related work in transportation field required.
  • Prior experience working in a large fast paced foodservice purchasing and/or logistics environment strongly desired.
  • Must have excellent organizational and analytical skills, demonstrate a keen attention to detail, be able to communicate across cross-functional teams and be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Experience in tactical project management and in depth knowledge of logistics conversion function required.
  • Must be able to manage successful relationships with the operating divisions.

Responsibilities

  • Act as primary liaison between regional planning teams and operating divisions in both service and freight income expectations.
  • Work directly with senior divisional staff in the development of new logistics programs from design to execution.
  • Look for new opportunities with the local operating divisions markets that would include working with 3rd party regional shippers and suppliers that currently utilize 3rd party carriers.
  • Develop relationships between these parties and the operating division within that area to promote and provide additional freight income opportunities utilizing private fleet.
  • Primary liaison between the Logistics Planning Teams and USF Operating Divisions for inbound freight to provide strategic initiatives to reduce transportation costs.
  • Run reports to identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Analyze purchasing and transportation requirements to ensure conversion viability.
  • Partner with buyers and USF operations to adjust ordering patterns to execute cost effective conversions.
  • Monitor conversion results and provide data to the load planning team to ensure successful follow through of converted loads to execution.
  • Coordinate with buyers to ensure loads are successfully delivered.
  • Assist in problem resolution as needed.
  • Identify vendor freight margin management in coordination with the Network Strategy Team.
  • Support Division Operations to execute conversion of backhaul opportunities.
