Develops, implements, and monitors logistics management activities required for the timely and efficient transportation and distribution of products. The role develops cost-effective solutions that leverage company volumes, systems, and partnerships while maintaining high levels of customer service. It identifies logistics needs, communicates recommendations to upper management, and provides analysis and recommendations related to product tracking, routes, rerouting, costs, and usage alternatives. The position advises information systems teams and users on logistics-system improvements and changes. It also responds to requests for information from potential software vendors, tests vendor software packages for shortcomings, and assesses vendors’ ability to customize products to Home Depot specifications. The role typically involves unstructured situations requiring original approaches, prioritization, and determining how to carry out general assignments within broad policies and medium-term goals. The position typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time. Work takes place indoors in a comfortable environment, with infrequent and generally unobjectionable unpleasant conditions. The role is regularly subject to deadline or quota pressure and may involve difficult people-related or situational issues. Physical activity includes frequent standing or sitting in one location, with some opportunity to move about, and occasional stooping or lifting light objects, typically under 8 pounds.
